to keep them fresh. Another helpful hint is to wear a long sleeve shirt while in the water, I learned the hard way that your back can get pretty sunburned.
One of my favorite places that always delivers a great time for Scalloping is Crystal River. It seems to be less crowded there and the Scallops also seem to be a little bigger. If you are new to the sport, or you don’t have your own boat, the Plan- tation at Crystal River can take care of the Captain, Boat and gear. They also have
some great Scallop packages, if you want to make a weekend out of it. If you are a Freedom Boat Club member, they have 2 locations there. If you are looking for other alternative’s, head to locations like Port St. Joe, Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee, Pasco county and Homosassa. There are many great places to Scallop on the West Coast,
but the best way to
be sure where to
go and the dates
of season in that
location is to visit
www.myfwc.com. I
am inviting you to
come take part in
Scallop season, it is
fun, delicious and a
great way to spend
time with loved ones. Florida has some of the best recreational scalloping in the World, come join me under the water.
